The project consisted of strengthening works to two existing structures. Both structures carried vehicular traffic and passed over a disused section of line, and interestingly, the Caldon canal ran parallel to the works.

Station Road comprised of the removal of the existing steel deck which was replaced by multiple precast concrete beams. The existing bridge parapet was reduced and re-built using reclaimed sandstone from site, with associated wingwall, drainage and highway improvement works also carried out under the scheme.

Park Lane comprised of underpinning and casting of a new central pier to support the existing brick arch bridge. As part of the works, we had to hydraulically jack the existing structure to facilitate the placement of supporting structural members. Masonry repairs were carried out to the abutment walls in addition to drainage and highway improvement works also carried out under the scheme.
