Works included the excavation of the existing slope to form benching which necessitated the import in excess of 5,000 tonne of granular fill to stabilise the embankment and the construction of 200m of gabion baskets at varying heights. The works were required as there was the threat of an embankment slip and so careful round the clock monitoring was required as we stabilised the embankment further. Careful environmental consideration was given to the River Leith which ran at the toe of the works in addition to a nearby badger sett.
