Recycled aggregates at Kingmoor Local Distribution Centre

With growing requirements for improved sustainability in the rail industry the utilisation of recycled materials is increasingly important. Each year approximately 275 million tonnes of aggregates are used as raw construction materials in the UK with around 25% derived from recycled or secondary sources. This percentage is higher than many other European countries but has the potential to be expanded further by utilising materials such as reprocessed rail ballast such as that available from the Story Reprocessing Facility.

The aggregate we can supply is 100% recycled 6F2 and Type 1 sub base stone which means our customers can be confident they are purchasing a sustainable aggregate from an environmental friendly facility without compromising on quality.

Both our Type 1 sub base and 6F2 aggregate were used by Carillion in the M74 motorway extension from Carlisle to Gretna.
