Kingmoor relay, Carlisle I would just like to give a huge thanks to everybody involved in the Kingmoor relay. The job was delivered at very short notice and as planned. Story Rail made the extra effort to complete this project and I would personally like to thank the supervisors and machine operator's involved. This was a very difficult project given the location, limited timescale and access to site.

This was the first project undertaken by the Track Geometry team at Preston and hopefully will not be the last.

Please pass on my special thanks to the site operatives, welders, OLE and S&T staff that all bared the adverse weather conditions and put in the extra effort to aid us in the completion of this project.

Lunds and Ais Gill Viaduct Waterproofing

Following the recent waterproofing works at the above two structures and from feedback from Network Rail and Birse Rail staff, I just wanted to personally thank you and your company for your company’s contribution to the ultimate success in delivering the two schemes.

The professionalism and the “can do, will do” attitude and commitment of your staff were second to none which is all the more impressive considering the atrocious weather conditions they had to endure. I also am led to believe that all the works were carried out without a single safety incident amounting to over seven thousand man-hours worked.

During the course of my site inspections at last weekend’s possession on the GSW I was very pleased at the professionalism of not only LORW but also your sub contractor Story Rail.

Network Rail can often be quick to criticise when things go wrong, conversely it is only proper to praise good practice. The operatives I met on the night appeared both courteous and positive in manner to get the job done safely. RRV Operatives and Crane Controllers completed all relevant checks and when I requested the Engineering Acceptance Certificates for the Philmore Trolleys they were immediately at hand for inspection as were competency, CPCS Cards and relevant machine attachment certificates.

It was also worth noting that during the course of my visit Story Rail Supervisory/Management staff were on site and taking an active interest in the work activity.

We would like to thank you for your team’s efforts at Ladgate Lane over the Christmas period.

You may not be aware that we encountered some difficulties on site, (not of your making). However rather than reacting to the situation, your team, I am pleased to say took a very proactive role, with the result that the possession was handed back on time without any incidents.

I am assured by my Project Manager this was only made possible by the positive and “can do” attitude shown by all those on site.
